Calm Water: For a Relaxing Paddle

 

Dillon Reservoir: Dillon, CO

Located around 1 hour and 20 minutes from Denver, this reservoir boasts beautiful views as it is completely surrounded by mountains. There are a multitude of activities available along its shores, and is a perfect location for a scenic kayak cruise. 

 

Bear Creek Reservoir: Lakewood, CO

Less than 30 minutes away from Denver, Bear Creek Reservoir is an amazing metro getaway. The park itself offers camping, trails, and beach access. Nestled along the foothills, this reservoir has mountain vibes without the mountain drive. 

 

Eleven Mile State Park: Lake George, CO

For a more secluded adventure, Eleven Mile State Park is a great refuge from city life. Around 2 hours and 20 minutes from Denver, the park is a popular camping and fishing destination. The reservoir located in the park is perfect for a relaxing day on the water, and maybe some kayak fishing too!

 

Whitewater: For the Adrenaline Junkies

 

Arkansas Headwater Recreation Area: Salida, CO

The Arkansas River is famous for its commercial rafting down intense rapids. Located around 3 hours from Denver, this popular paddling area has many exciting features. For the expert kayaker, the headwater recreation area is the perfect place to get your adrenaline fix. 

 

Steamboat Whitewater Park: Steamboat, CO

For those who want the mountain town experience along with some exhilarating watersports, the Steamboat Whitewater Park is the place to be. Although it is a longer drive from Denver (4 hours), it is well worth the trek to experience what the Yampa River has to offer.

 

Boulder Kayak Playpark: Boulder, CO

A mere 40 minutes away from downtown Denver, the Boulder Kayak Playpark is a great place to test your kayaking skills. With a fun obstacle course along Boulder Creek, many kayakers flock to Eben G. Fine Park to try their hand at the playpark.
